The First Electric Bikes with Bosch Engines Arrive in Taiwan.

It seems like as long as most of us can remember, e-bikes running on Bosch’s well-liked mid-drive electric motors have been available in almost every market. However, some significant markets are still experiencing the highly-engineered drivetrains for the first time. Now arriving in Taiwan Tern’s Vektron and Quick Haul e-bikes are Bosch mid-drive motors.
Although many people believe Tern is a North American or European brand because of its dominance in the Western e-bike industry, the firm was founded in Taiwan.

Though the company’s folding and non-electric bikes are the only ones available to the domestic market, their Bosch-powered e-bikes have a well-deserved reputation for quality and longevity abroad (I’ve often drooled over the Tern BYB, which offers a design that looks like Brampton turned up the style knob several clicks).
By introducing the Vektron and Quick Haul e-bikes to Taiwan, Tern is introducing the country to its first electric bikes with Bosch engines.

According to Josh Hon, Tern Team Captain, “Taiwan is the global epicenter for quality bicycles and the country has come so far in promoting bikes for recreation and transport.” “We were quick to respond when Bosch proposed joining the Taiwan market, as a substantial percentage of Tern Team Members are native to Taiwan. Additionally, our bikes are the most practical for crowded cities like Taipei, where a small e-bike is more convenient to ride and store.

Because of its tight-folding frame design, which makes it more compact than most folding e-bikes in its class, the Tern Vektron is the perfect e-bike for urban areas. In big cities around Europe, where mobility is essential, one can frequently see these kinds of foldable e-bikes.

For commuters who need to ride their e-bike to the train station and then fold it up to bring it with them into the city, the Vektron is a practical choice.

The Tern Quick Haul provides greater baggage and kid-hauling options for riders who use their e-bikes more as family vehicles than as personal transportation. Because of the Quick Haul’s versatile design and ability to ride anywhere, I can attest to its effectiveness as an electric bike that can replace a car.
The Quick Haul’s form factor is crucial; according to the makers, it is “smaller than a standard city bike, but brawny enough to safely ferry a passenger or handle 150 kg (330 lb) of load.”

Additionally, Bosch powertrains—which include the entire motor, battery, console, and drive system package—are featured on both motorcycles.
