Is LiveWire developing an Old Harley-Davidson e-bike Concept?

It could benefit the brand’s bottom line. So, I’ve already discussed Livewire’s latest patent for virtual brakes and why I’m not convinced it’s a good idea. But I didn’t get to discuss, at least not in that post, where the three drawings depict a long-forgotten e-bike/e-dirtbike concept.

The year is 2018, and LiveWire remains a part of Harley-Davidson’s core portfolio. Avengers: Infinity War had just been released, too. Those were simpler times. However, in a forward-looking statement, the company released design sketches,
concepts, and what appeared to be customer-ready models, including a cool-looking electric bicycle/dirtbike. Everything was guaranteed to be on its way.

Then they never did.
Harley-Davidson Then LiveWire was spun off, and we never heard anything about those concepts again. That is, until its recent patent, which appears to show off the cool-looking EV. Take a peek.

I mean, that’s the same design. It has the same bicycle-style frame, suspension arrangement, and finned battery pack. Same, same. We don’t know why LiveWire borrowed this old notion for one of its brand-new patents.

Now, Companies frequently employ unusual designs or ancient concepts to conceal future products from prying eyes. But why doesn’t LiveWire utilize the Del Mar or Mulholland designs? Why bring up this long-forgotten EV dirtbike/bicycle design from when the future looked bright and LiveWire was full of promise?

Those questions led me to believe that, just maybe, the brand will release something with this design soon. It’s no secret that LiveWire is struggling. And its offerings are somewhat pricey. It is producing anything like a jacked-up e-bike, a Dust. Moto, or a Surron is a simple way to make some quick money. Something priced around $10,000.

It would not save the company, but it would significantly reduce its negative income. Also, the design is cool. It could help LiveWire convert some stylish city dwellers into believers. Maybe.
