Kia Carens EV launch has been confirmed for 2025. Kia will add 15 EVs to its global fleet by 2027.
Kia, like the majority of other automakers, is increasing its attention on electric vehicles. The Carens EV will be Kia’s first mass-market electric vehicle in India. Kia has announced that it will be available in 2025. Kia has confirmed these plans during the 2024 Kia Investor Day event in South Korea.
What Can We Expect from the 2025 KIA Carens Electric Vehicle?
Pratyush Rout made digital drawings of the forthcoming 2025 KIA Carens EV using the present Carens ICE variant and Kia’s EV design language. Exteriors are likely to be mostly similar to the ICE-powered Carens.
However, revisions are expected in the front and back to achieve a distinct EV profile. There will be new alloy wheels and design aspects tailored to electric vehicles. Carens EV will most likely have some distinct color options.
Much of the equipment inside will be identical to that of the ICE model. Some of the notable features are dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instruments, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a sunroof. The implementation of ADAS could improve safety. The standard safety kit will include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
In 2022, Kia hinted at a new EV for India. Kia already offers the EV6 in India, but it is a high-end product imported as a CBU. Carens EV is expected to be constructed in India, with a high degree of localization. It will assist in launching the Carens EV at a competitive pricing point. Prices could begin at Rs 20 lakh, making it the most inexpensive electric MPV in the country.
Carens EV will have no direct competitors upon launch. Maruti is also developing an electric MPV based on the eVX compact SUV. However, Maruti’s electric MPV is set to debut in 2026. This implies that the Carens EV will get off to the greatest possible start when it launches. In comparison to the BYD E6, the Carens EV will also be a better value.
Kia Carens EV: Performance, Range
While plans have been published, Kia has not provided any information regarding the impending Carens EV. However, it is realistic to anticipate that Carens EV will be available with a single motor configuration. While battery specs are unavailable, the range is likely to be between 400 and 500 kilometers. The Carens EV will include DC rapid charging and V2L (vehicle-to-load) capabilities. To cut production costs, Carens EV’s battery pack could be the same as that of the future Hyundai Creta EV.
Following its introduction in India, Kia can consider export markets for India-made Carens EVs. Kia has already exported its popular ICE models, the Sonet, Seltos, and Carens. If production costs in India fall, Kia will undoubtedly examine the future of Carens EV for international markets. Kia maintains 13 facilities
worldwide, producing both EV and ICE cars. Two further factories will be built in South Korea solely for the production of electric vehicles.
