The New Kia EV6 Gets a Bigger Battery with More Range

Inside and externally, the futuristic-looking electric crossover has been modified.

Kia’s initial electric vehicle has been available from 2021. Since then, more than 210,000 units of the Hyundai Ioniq 5s’ sibling model have been sold. However, a mid-cycle update is coming for the EV6 to maintain its competitiveness in a more difficult market.

With its futuristic headlights that mimic the EV9, the new EV6 appears to be returning from the future. Kia is displaying the EV6 GT-Line, which has a front light bar, in addition to the normal model. The redesigned bumpers on the two trim levels have different designs, but nothing very noteworthy. The profile hasn’t altered because this is only a facelift, but there are new alloy wheel designs available in 19 and 20 inches.

The new EV6 sports a revised dual-screen frame and a different three-spoke steering wheel, despite the inside looking instantly familiar. Kia is integrating a smart rearview mirror, a 12.0-inch head-up display, and a fingerprint verification system. We’re pleased to inform you that the glossy piano black trim that was a part of the center console appears to have disappeared with the redesign.

Then there are the invisible alterations. For increased body rigidity, the EV6 will gain bigger B-pillars and second-row side airbags. Additionally, the ride comfort has been enhanced by adjusting the shock absorbers, and the electric motors are
now quieter. Additionally, there is additional sound-absorbing material surrounding the rear motor. Beyond the navigation system, over-the-air updates are now available, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard.

Kia is replacing its outdated 77.4-kWh battery with a larger 84.0-kWh pack, which can charge at 350 kW for 18 minutes, reaching 80 percent of its capacity. According to local testing protocol, the rear-wheel-drive EV6 Long Range can now travel 307 miles instead of 295 miles. According to the EPA, the comparable pre-
facelift model in the US can travel 310 miles before running out of fuel.

Next month, the revised EV6 will go on sale domestically. Other markets will follow. That top-of-the-line GT is probably not long behind.
